Everyone loves a listicle right? So here's ours.

10 digital marketing tools we couldn't live without.

1️⃣ Google Analytics
Tracks website traffic, user behaviour, conversions, and provides insights to improve campaigns.

2️⃣ Publer
We use Publer to schedule all our client (and our own) content to social media. It's very affordable and does a lot of cool things other schedulers can't do (without paying more).

3️⃣ Toggl
Toggl is a time-tracking tool which helps us keep on top of projects and client retainers. We know what you're thinking, it's not like Big Brother. It simply helps us understand if what we're giving timewise is actually enough.

4️⃣ Canva - sorry not sorry. 😬
We don't think we need to tell you what Canva is. It's come on so much in the last 5 years. If you're not already using it, you should check it out.

5️⃣ SEMRush
An SEO and competitive analysis tool we use for keyword research, backlink analysis, and content optimisation.

6️⃣ Toby
Fed up of having tabs for life? Toby is your answer. It's a Chrome extension that will change your life. Trust us on that one.

7️⃣ WhatsApp
We'd be lost without it. Not just our Xpand team but all of our client's teams too. If it's not in the WhatsApp chat it didn't happen.

8️⃣ Gemini/Chat GPT
Yep, we said it. We're not afraid to admit we use AI to help us frame and shape content or research industries and audiences. AI isn't a threat, it's an assistance tool, so don't be afraid to use it.

9️⃣ Screaming Frog
A crawler we use to identify things that need attention on a website.

🔟 WordPress
We create all of our websites in WordPress.

And as a little bonus...

✨ SOLAR 7 - the most important in our opinion.

SOLAR 7 is our trademarked process, but it can, and has been used several times as a tool to help businesses like yours plan their marketing. How? Well, you'll have to get in touch to find that out. 😉

Google has officially wrapped up its August 2024 Core Update. Here’s what you need to know...

Starting on August 15th and concluding on September 3rd, this update brought several changes that could significantly affect your business’s search rankings.

✅ Enhanced focus on user-first content:
Google continues its mission to prioritise helpful, user-centered content. This means websites that offer genuine value and address their audience’s needs are more likely to see ranking boosts. If your content is purely SEO-driven without truly serving your target audience, it could be time to revisit your strategy.

✅ Impact on rankings:
This core update follows on from previous updates aimed at reducing the prevalence of low-quality content. As a result, some websites may have already noticed fluctuations in search rankings. The update has been particularly tough on those trying to manipulate rankings with outdated tactics, but beneficial for sites that focus on informative and original content.

Alongside the update, Google also refined its advice for recovery.

The revision emphasises that website owners should wait a full week before implementing any changes to allow for proper analysis, comparing before and after the update. They also advise that only large drops in position should be acted upon and any changes made should be user-centric improvements while avoiding “quick fixes”.

What does Simon recommend you do?
💡 Run a full audit of your site’s content and SEO strategy. Make sure your pages are meeting user intent, delivering fresh, helpful content, and aligned with the latest Google guidelines. You can find more recommendations here👇https://developers.google.com/search/updates/core-updates

Don’t let this update push your site down the rankings. If you're unsure how this will affect your business or need help staying ahead of algorithm changes, we're here to help!
